#1 Carmelo Anthony could be an option for the Miami Heat
Carmelo Anthony has not played since departing the Houston Rockets back in November, although the veteran continues to be among the NBA’s most talked-about players. As a free agent likely to command a minimal salary, Anthony has been linked with the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks, and Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinal is reporting that the Miami Heat could also be a potential destination for the veteran:
Following an underwhelming season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Melo headed to Houston last summer hoping to rebuild his reputation. However, the 10-time All-Star made just 10 appearances under Mike D’Antoni before being instructed to find a new team. Yet, Anthony is determined to play for at least one more season and has expressed his willingness to take on a smaller role.
#2 Patrick Patterson gave up millions to exit the Oklahoma City Thunder
Back in June, Patrick Patterson opted into the final year of his three-year deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, following the departures of Paul George, Russell Westbrook, and Jerami Grant, Patterson agreed to a buyout with the Thunder last week.
While details of the early termination were not initially reported, Bobby Marks of The Athletic is reporting that the 30-year-old gave up more than $3.5 million to exit Oklahoma City:
Patterson joined the Thunder back in 2017, following an impressive spell with the Toronto Raptors. Nevertheless, Patterson’s two-year spell with the franchise was underwhelming, and the veteran struggled for form and fitness.
During the 18-19 season, the power forward averaged less than 15 minutes per game during the regular season, and barely featured after the Thunder signed Markieff Morris.
#3 John Wall wants to spend his entire career with the Washington Wizards
John Wall was drafted as the first overall pick by the Washington Wizards in the 2010 NBA Draft, and the point guard has since become a five-time All-Star. Wall is currently signed to a four-year, $170 million contract, and despite the franchise’s recent troubles, Wall has reiterated his desire to spend his entire career in Washington:
Wall has played just 73 times over the past two seasons and is expected to miss the entire 19-20 campaign with a ruptured left Achilles tendon.
