Harrison Barnes declines $25M option; becomes a free agent
A number of players around the league are currently deciding whether to take up player options for the 19-20 season. Among them is Harrison Barnes, and James Ham of NBC Sports California is reporting that the 27-year-old is set to decline his option in favour of testing his value on the open market:
Barnes was traded to Sacramento ahead of the February trade deadline. During 28 appearances for the Kings, Barnes averaged 14.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.
Ricky Rubio is a target for the Indiana Pacers
Following another early playoff exit, the Utah Jazz are trying to upgrade their point guard options. To free up salary, the Jazz will allow Ricky Rubio to leave in free agency, and according to The Ringer, the Pacers are hopeful of bringing the Spaniard to Indiana:
Rubio joined the Jazz back in 2017, and this season averaged 12.7 points, 6.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game.
James Harden and Chris Paul’s relationship may be irreparable
When Chris Paul signed a new long-term deal with the Rockets last summer, many expected the Rockets to challenge Golden State’s Western Conference dominance. However, Houston were once again defeated by Steve Kerr’s side, and Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports is reporting that James Harden and Chris Paul’s relationship is a major problem for the Rockets:
