No. 1 Atlanta Hawks at No. 8 Brooklyn Nets (8 p.m. ET, ESPN)Game 6 spread, total: Atlanta -3.5, 200.5 Series lead: Atlanta 3-2

This has been an entertaining matchup, and that continued in Game 5 on Wednesday. The Hawks won 107-97 as 9-point home favorites for their first cover of the series. They needed four free throws in the final 30 seconds after the Nets cut the lead to six.

The OVER is 2-0 in the last two games, with an average of 206 combined points scored in regulation. The UNDER easily went 3-0 in the first three, with 184 average points scored. Both teams have shot the ball much better the last two games.

The home team has won every game this series. The Nets took the two in the Barclays Center (91-83 as 3.5-point dogs and 120-115 as 5.5-point dogs) with the latter coming in overtime. Brooklyn is 9-2 SU and 8-2-1 ATS in its last 11 home games, while Atlanta is just 8-13 SU and 6-14-1 ATS in its last 21 away.

The Nets (40-47 SU, 43-42-2 ATS) stayed competitive last game by getting a combined 41 points off the bench from Alan Anderson and Jarrett Jack. They are down to a seven-man rotation, as coach Lionel Hollins is reluctant to use backup big man Mason Plumlee due to his poor free-throw shooting. Center Brook Lopez (20 PPG) has played well this series but seems to be tiring with too many minutes.

Point guard Deron Williams will again be under the microscope. He played tremendously in scoring 35 points in Game 4, but has averaged just 5.8 PPG the rest of the series, including five points last game. A myriad of injuries is one reason for his inconsistent play, but he also lacks confidence/intensity at times.

The Hawks (63-24 SU, 50-36-1 ATS) best serve themselves by getting a win and not allowing the series to go back to Philips Arena for a Game 7 on Sunday. A very confident Wizards squad is waiting in the wings after sweeping Toronto.

Atlanta can’t count on much production from its bench and needs solid contributions from all five starters. Injuries have been a key theme all series, with Paul Millsap (shoulder) and Al Horford (finger) both hampered at times. Horford had his best game of the series in Game 5 with 20 points (10-of-17 shooting) and 15 boards.

Point guard Jeff Teague is another starter to keep an eye on after spraining his ankle in the third quarter of last game. He did return and is listed as probable, but needs to be effective on both ends of the court.

The Linemakers’ lean: We’ve been on Brooklyn and UNDER pretty much this entire series, and there’s no reason to get of that train now.  The Nets have covered four of five in this series and narrowly missed the money last time out.  They’ve been rolling at home, while Atlanta continues to struggle on the road.  A few OVERs in a row, meanwhile, has the total moving back up, and we like the value we’re seeing on tonight’s UNDER.
